Gliclazide

A sulfonylurea medication that helps your pancreas release more insulin, lowering blood sugar.

Metformin

A biguanide medication that helps your body use insulin better and produces less sugar in your liver, also lowering blood sugar.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone are not enough to control blood sugar levels.

May be used as monotherapy or in combination with other diabetes medications.

Carryl M 30 Forte Tab (Gliclazide + Metformin) works by acting on two different mechanisms to control blood sugar levels: 1. Gliclazide: Stimulates the release of insulin from the pancreas, which is crucial for glucose uptake and utilization by the body's cells. 2. Metformin: Inhibits glucose production in the liver, increases insulin sensitivity in the body's tissues, and improves glucose uptake by cells.

Store at room temperature (20-25°C). Keep away from moisture and heat. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage should be individualized based on your blood sugar levels and response to the medication.

Your doctor will typically start you on a low dose and gradually increase it until your blood sugar is well-controlled.

Take the medication with meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.

Do not crush or chew the tablets. Swallow them whole with a glass of water.

Serious but less common side effects include: Lactic acidosis (a rare but dangerous build-up of lactic acid in the blood), vitamin B12 deficiency, and liver problems.

Common side effects include: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach ache, loss of appetite, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), and skin rash.

Alcohol Consumption

Drinking alcohol while taking this medication may increase the risk of low blood sugar and lactic acidosis. Limit alcohol consumption or avoid it altogether.



While Driving or operating Machinery

This medication can cause low blood sugar, which can impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience symptoms of low blood sugar.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Discuss safe alternatives with your doctor.



Children

This medication is not recommended for children.



Kidney

This medication is not recommended for people with severe kidney problems. Your doctor may adjust the dosage based on your kidney function.



Liver

This medication is not recommended for people with severe liver problems. Your doctor may adjust the dosage based on your liver function.
