Carbimazole

Carbimazole is the active ingredient in this medication.It belongs to a class of drugs called antithyroid medications.

Carbimazole is used to treat hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland).

It helps to reduce the production of thyroid hormones in the body.

Carbidax 5 Tab (Carbimazole) works by blocking the enzyme thyroid peroxidase, which is necessary for the production of thyroid hormones. By inhibiting this enzyme, carbimazole reduces the amount of thyroid hormones produced, helping to control hyperthyroidism.

Store carbimazole tablets at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight.

The dosage of carbimazole will vary depending on your individual needs and the severity of your condition.

It is usually taken once or twice a day, with or without food.

Always follow your doctor's instructions carefully and take the medication exactly as prescribed.

Serious side effects are possible, including bone marrow suppression and liver damage.

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and rash.

Alcohol Consumption

While Driving or operating Machinery

Carbimazole may cause drowsiness or dizziness in some people. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Carbimazole can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. Consult your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding.



Children

Carbimazole is not recommended for use in children.



Kidney

Carbimazole may be less effective in people with kidney problems.



Liver

Carbimazole may be less effective in people with liver problems.
