Capecitabine

Capecitabine is the active ingredient in the medication.It is a prodrug, meaning it is converted into an active form of the drug inside the body.

Capetero 500mg Tab (Capecitabine) is a fluoropyrimidine antimetabolite. It gets converted into 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), a substance that interferes with the growth and replication of cancer cells.

Store Capecitabine at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F), away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children.

The dosage of Capecitabine is determined by your doctor and depends on factors such as your age, health condition, and the type of cancer you have.

It is typically taken by mouth, usually twice a day, with or without food.

Common side effects of Capecitabine include:

Diarrhea

Hand-foot syndrome (redness, swelling, pain, peeling of the palms of the hands and soles of the feet)

Skin rash

Liver problems

Alcohol Consumption

It is advisable to limit alcohol consumption while taking Capecitabine, as alcohol may increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Capecitabine can cause fatigue, dizziness, and other side effects that may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how Capecitabine affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Capecitabine is harmful to a developing fetus and should not be taken during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, tell your doctor immediately.



Children

Capecitabine is not generally recommended for children, as its safety and effectiveness in children have not been established.



Kidney

People with kidney problems may need to take a lower dose of Capecitabine or adjust their dosage schedule. Your doctor will monitor your kidney function during treatment.
