Type 2 diabetes: Canagliflozin is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Reducing cardiovascular risk: In some cases, it might be used to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes who have cardiovascular disease.

Canagliflozin Tablets 100 Mg (Canagliflozin) is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It works by blocking the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, causing more sugar to be excreted in the urine. This helps lower blood sugar levels.

Store Canagliflozin at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

The usual starting dose is 100 mg once daily, taken with or without food.

Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your individual needs and response to the medication.

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and take the medication exactly as prescribed.

Common side effects include: urinary tract infections, genital yeast infections, increased urination, dehydration, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), and headache.

Serious side effects can include: ketoacidosis (a dangerous condition that can lead to coma), leg amputations, bone fractures, and kidney problems.

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking Canagliflozin, as it can increase the risk of dehydration.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Canagliflozin may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when you first start taking it. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

It is not known if Canagliflozin is safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor about the potential risks and benefits.



Children

Canagliflozin is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Canagliflozin can affect kidney function, and it may not be suitable for people with severe kidney disease. Your doctor will monitor your kidney function while you are taking this medication.



Liver

Canagliflozin is not recommended for people with severe liver disease.
