Brinzolamide

Brinzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that belongs to a class of drugs called ophthalmic (eye) medications.It is available as an ophthalmic solution (eye drops).

Brinzolamide is used to treat high pressure inside the eye (ocular hypertension) and openangle glaucoma.

It helps to reduce the pressure in the eye by decreasing the production of fluid inside the eye.

Brinzolamide Ophthalmic Suspension Ip 1% W/V 5ml (Brinzolamide) works by inhibiting the enzyme carbonic anhydrase, which is responsible for producing fluid inside the eye. By blocking this enzyme, brinzolamide reduces the amount of fluid in the eye, leading to a decrease in pressure.

Store brinzolamide at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat.

Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

Discard any unused portion after the expiry date mentioned on the bottle.

The dosage of brinzolamide will be determined by your doctor based on your condition and response to treatment.

Typically, the recommended dosage is one drop in the affected eye(s) two to three times daily.

Follow the instructions provided by your doctor carefully.

Do not use more or less than the prescribed dosage.

Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using the eye drops.

Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a pocket.

Place one drop in the pocket and close your eye for one minute.

Common side effects of brinzolamide include burning, stinging, or itching of the eye.

Other possible side effects include blurred vision, dry eyes, headache, and eye irritation.

Alcohol Consumption

While there is no known interaction between brinzolamide and alcohol, it's always best to consult your doctor about alcohol consumption while taking any medication.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Brinzolamide may cause blurred vision, so it's important to avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision is clear.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Brinzolamide should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. It is unknown if brinzolamide passes into breast milk, so it's important to discuss this with your doctor.



Children

The safety and effectiveness of brinzolamide in children have not been established.



Kidney

If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dosage of brinzolamide.



Liver

Brinzolamide is primarily eliminated by the kidneys, so it is not expected to cause significant liver problems.
