Benidipine blocks calcium channels in the heart and blood vessels, leading to vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and reduced peripheral resistance. Chlorthalidone increases sodium and water excretion by the kidneys, decreasing blood volume and consequently blood pressure. The combination provides a synergistic effect, enhancing blood pressure control.
