Sulfamethoxazole inhibits dihydropteroate synthetase, an enzyme essential for bacterial folic acid synthesis. Trimethoprim inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, another enzyme crucial for folic acid synthesis. By acting synergistically at sequential steps in the folic acid pathway, they inhibit bacterial growth and reproduction.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C). Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication after the expiration date.
