Clavulanic Acid

An inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from being broken down by certain enzymes produced by bacteria, extending its effectiveness.

Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid prevents the inactivation of amoxicillin by bacterial beta-lactamases, enzymes that can break down penicillin-type antibiotics. This combination ensures a broader spectrum of antibacterial activity.

Store at room temperature (below 25°C) away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any leftover medication after the prescribed course is complete.

Dosage varies depending on the infection, age, and weight of the patient. Always follow the prescription instructions provided by your doctor.

Usually administered orally (by mouth) with or without food.

Take the medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day (e.g., every 8 hours or every 12 hours).

Complete the full course of medication even if symptoms improve to prevent recurrence of infection.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption is not generally advised while taking amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, as it can potentially increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some individuals. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience these side effects.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Consult your doctor before using this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid generally passes into breast milk and its use should be carefully considered.



Children

Dosage is adjusted based on the child's weight and age. Follow the doctor's instructions carefully.



Kidney

Kidney function should be monitored, particularly in patients with pre-existing kidney disease. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.



Liver

Liver function should be monitored, especially with prolonged use or high doses. Report any signs of liver problems (e.g., jaundice, dark urine) immediately.
