Azilsartan Medoxomil

Azilsartan medoxomil is the active ingredient in the medication.It is a type of medicine called an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB).

High blood pressure (hypertension)

To reduce the risk of stroke in patients with high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy (thickening of the heart muscle).

Azilsartan Medoxomil Tablets 40mg (Azilsartan Medoxomil) works by blocking the effects of a hormone called angiotensin II. Angiotensin II causes blood vessels to narrow, which increases blood pressure. By blocking angiotensin II, azilsartan medoxomil helps to relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure.

Store azilsartan medoxomil at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.

The dosage of azilsartan medoxomil will vary depending on your individual needs and medical condition.

Your doctor will determine the best dosage for you.

Take azilsartan medoxomil exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Do not take more or less of the medication than prescribed.

Do not stop taking azilsartan medoxomil without talking to your doctor.

You can take azilsartan medoxomil with or without food.

Common side effects include dizziness, headache, and fatigue.

Less common side effects include cough, diarrhea, and low blood pressure.

Serious side effects are rare but can include angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat) and kidney problems.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects from azilsartan medoxomil. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Azilsartan medoxomil can cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Azilsartan medoxomil is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It is also not recommended for use during breastfeeding.



Children

Azilsartan medoxomil is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose of azilsartan medoxomil.



Liver

If you have liver problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose of azilsartan medoxomil.
