Azathioprine

Azathioprine is the active ingredient in the medication.It is an immunosuppressant drug.It works by suppressing the body's immune system.

Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) when other medications have not worked well enough.

Treatment of severe, active Crohn's disease.

Treatment of ulcerative colitis.

Prevention of organ rejection after transplantation.

Treatment of certain types of autoimmune diseases.

Treatment of certain types of cancer.

Azathioprine Tablets Ip 50 Mg (Azathioprine) works by suppressing the immune system. It does this by interfering with the production of certain types of white blood cells that are involved in the immune response. This helps to reduce inflammation and slow down the progression of autoimmune diseases.

Store azathioprine at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

The dosage of azathioprine will be determined by your doctor based on your individual needs.

It is usually taken by mouth, once or twice a day.

Take azathioprine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Do not take more or less of it than your doctor recommends.

Do not stop taking azathioprine without talking to your doctor.

Alcohol Consumption

While Driving or operating Machinery

Azathioprine can cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Azathioprine can harm an unborn baby. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using this medication. Azathioprine can pass into breast milk. It is not recommended for use while breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using this medication if you are breastfeeding.



Children

Azathioprine is not approved for use in children under 18 years of age.



Kidney

If you have kidney problems, you may need a lower dose of azathioprine. Talk to your doctor about how this medication may affect you.



Liver

If you have liver problems, you may need a lower dose of azathioprine. Talk to your doctor about how this medication may affect you.
