Acetazolamide

Acetazolamide is the active ingredient in this medication.It belongs to a class of drugs called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.

Treating certain types of glaucoma (a condition that damages the optic nerve, which connects the eye to the brain).

Preventing altitude sickness.

Treating epilepsy (seizures).

Treating idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) (a condition that causes increased pressure within the skull).

Treating edema (swelling) caused by heart, liver, or kidney problems.

Treating metabolic alkalosis (a condition where the body has too much alkali).

Avva Sr Tab (Acetazolamide) works by blocking an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase. This enzyme helps the body produce and eliminate fluid. By blocking this enzyme, acetazolamide reduces fluid production in the eye, which helps to lower eye pressure. It also helps to reduce fluid buildup in the brain and other parts of the body.

Store acetazolamide at room temperature, away from light and moisture.

The dosage of acetazolamide will vary depending on your condition and medical history.

It is usually taken by mouth, with or without food.

Your doctor will tell you how much acetazolamide to take and how often to take it.

Do not stop taking acetazolamide without talking to your doctor, even if you feel better.

It is important to take acetazolamide exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

If you miss a dose of acetazolamide, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time.

Acetazolamide can cause side effects, including:

Tingling or numbness in the hands and feet

Metabolic acidosis (a condition where the body has too much acid).

Dizziness

Headache

Fatigue

Loss of appetite

Nausea

Vomiting

Diarrhea

Kidney stones

StevensJohnson syndrome (a serious skin reaction).

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking acetazolamide, as it can increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Acetazolamide may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women
