Bupropion

An aminoketone antidepressant and smoking cessation aid.

Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide

A centrally acting antitussive (cough suppressant).

This combination is NOT a standard FDAapproved formulation. Individual components may be prescribed for different purposes. Bupropion is used to treat major depressive disorder, seasonal affective disorder, and to aid in smoking cessation. Dextromethorphan is used to relieve cough.

Bupropion's mechanism isn't fully understood but is thought to involve increasing the availability of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain. Dextromethorphan acts on the central nervous system to suppress the cough reflex.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Crucially, there is no standard dosage for a combined bupropion and dextromethorphan formulation. Dosage for each medication should be determined by a physician individually based on your health and condition. Never combine these medications without explicit instructions from a prescribing doctor.

Bupropion: Headache, dry mouth, insomnia, constipation, nausea, dizziness, increased heart rate, seizures (rare but serious).

Dextromethorphan: Dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, constipation, headache. At high doses, serious side effects are possible.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects with both bupropion and dextromethorphan. Avoid alcohol consumption.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Drowsiness and dizziness are possible side effects. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Consult your doctor before using either bupropion or dextromethorphan if pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

Use in children is typically not recommended for either medication without specific doctor's guidance.



Kidney

Dosage adjustments may be necessary for individuals with kidney impairment. Consult your physician.



Liver

Dosage adjustments may be necessary for individuals with liver impairment. Consult your physician.
