Clavulanic Acid

An inhibitor of beta-lactamase enzymes, protecting amoxicillin from breakdown by bacteria.

Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid prevents the breakdown of amoxicillin by bacterial beta-lactamases, enhancing amoxicillin's effectiveness against bacteria resistant to amoxicillin alone.

Store at room temperature (below 25°C) in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage varies depending on the infection, patient's age, weight, and kidney function. Always follow your doctor's prescription.

Take the medication with a full glass of water.

Complete the entire course of medication, even if symptoms improve. Stopping early can lead to recurrence of the infection and antibiotic resistance.

Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid generally does not affect alertness, but if experiencing side effects like dizziness, avoid driving or operating machinery.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Consult your doctor before using this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid may be used in these situations, but the risks and benefits need careful consideration.



Children

Dosage for children is adjusted based on their weight and age. Always follow the doctor's instructions carefully.



Kidney

Dosage adjustment may be necessary for patients with kidney problems. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose.



Liver

Rarely, liver problems can occur. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience signs of liver problems like jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes).
