Atenolol

A beta-blocker that slows down the heart rate and reduces blood pressure.

Hydrochlorothiazide

A thiazide diuretic that increases urine production, lowering blood volume and blood pressure.

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure)

Treatment of angina pectoris (chest pain)

Atenolol blocks the effects of adrenaline on the heart, reducing heart rate and contractility. Hydrochlorothiazide increases the excretion of sodium and water from the body, reducing blood volume and subsequently blood pressure. The combination provides a synergistic effect, lowering blood pressure more effectively than either drug alone.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage should be determined by a physician based on individual needs and response.

Do not abruptly stop taking this medication; gradual reduction is necessary under medical supervision.

Take medication as prescribed, with or without food, as directed by your doctor.

Dizziness

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol may potentiate the hypotensive effects of this medication. Avoid excessive alcohol intake.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

May cause dizziness or lightheadedness; caution advised until effects are known. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is generally avoided unless benefits outweigh risks. Consult your doctor.



Children

Use in children is generally not recommended unless specifically prescribed by a pediatrician.



Kidney

Caution is advised in patients with impaired kidney function. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.



Liver

Use caution in patients with impaired liver function. Monitor liver function regularly as needed.
