Apremilast

Is the active ingredient in the medication.

Treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in adults who are candidates for phototherapy or systemic therapy.

Treatment of active psoriatic arthritis in adults who have had an inadequate response or intolerance to methotrexate.

Apremilast Tablets Ip 30mg (Apremilast) is a phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor. It works by blocking the breakdown of a chemical called cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) in the body. cAMP is involved in many cell functions, including inflammation. By blocking the breakdown of cAMP, apremilast helps to reduce inflammation.

Store apremilast at room temperature, between 68°F and 77°F (20°C and 25°C). Keep apremilast in its original container, tightly closed, and out of reach of children and pets.

The usual starting dose of apremilast is 30 mg taken twice daily (morning and evening).

Your doctor may adjust your dose based on your response to treatment and how you tolerate the medication.

Apremilast is typically taken with or without food.

The most common side effects of apremilast include nausea, diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, headache, and vomiting.

More serious side effects can occur, including liver problems, depression, suicidal thoughts, and allergic reactions.

Alcohol Consumption

It is generally recommended to avoid or limit alcohol consumption while taking apremilast, as alcohol can increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Apremilast may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or other side effects that could affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It is important to be cautious when driving or operating machinery until you know how apremilast affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Apremilast should not be used during pregnancy unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks. It is not known if apremilast passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of breastfeeding while taking apremilast.



Children

Apremilast is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Apremilast may be adjusted based on your kidney function. Talk to your doctor if you have kidney problems.



Liver

Apremilast may affect your liver function. Your doctor may need to monitor your liver function while you are taking apremilast.
