Alprazolam

A benzodiazepine medication that acts as a central nervous system depressant.

Propranolol

A beta-blocker that reduces the effects of adrenaline on the heart and blood vessels.

Off-label use: May be used in combination for performance anxiety or specific phobias in certain circumstances. (Always consult a physician for off-label use.)

Treatment of anxiety disorders, particularly those with significant somatic symptoms (physical manifestations of anxiety).

Management of anxiety associated with depression.

Treatment of social anxiety disorder (SAD) in conjunction with psychotherapy.

Alprazolam enhances the effects of GABA, a neurotransmitter that inhibits nerve impulses, reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation. Propranolol blocks the effects of adrenaline (epinephrine), reducing heart rate, blood pressure, and tremors associated with anxiety. The combination aims to address both the psychological and physiological components of anxiety.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication as per your pharmacist's or doctor's instructions.

Dosage is strictly individualized and determined by a physician based on patient factors and response to therapy.

Bronchospasm (in patients with asthma or COPD)

Bradycardia (slow heart rate)

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid alcohol consumption as it can potentiate the sedative effects of alprazolam and increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects you. Drowsiness and dizziness are common side effects.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Alprazolam and propranolol can pass into breast milk and may pose risks to the fetus or infant. Discuss risks and benefits with your physician before using these medications during pregnancy or breastfeeding.



Children

Generally not recommended for children without specific physician oversight. Dosage and safety are different in pediatric populations.



Kidney

Caution is advised in patients with kidney impairment as both drugs may be excreted through the kidneys. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.



Liver

Caution is advised in patients with liver impairment as both drugs may be metabolized by the liver. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.
