Alogliptin

Alogliptin is the active ingredient in the medication.It belongs to a class of drugs called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors.

Alogliptin is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

It may be used alone or with other diabetes medications.

Aloja 25mg Tab (Alogliptin) works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones, such as GLP-1, which stimulate the pancreas to release more insulin and reduce the production of glucose by the liver.

Store alogliptin at room temperature, away from light and moisture.

The usual starting dose of alogliptin is 6.25 mg once daily.

Your doctor may adjust your dose based on your blood sugar levels and how well you respond to treatment.

Take alogliptin with or without food.

Common side effects of alogliptin include: headache, upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis.

Serious side effects are possible, including: pancreatitis, allergic reactions, and joint pain.

Alcohol Consumption

Alogliptin may increase the risk of low blood sugar if consumed with alcohol.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Alogliptin may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

It is unknown if alogliptin is safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Discuss with your doctor about potential risks and benefits.



Children

Alogliptin is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Patients with kidney disease may need dose adjustments.



Liver

Alogliptin is not recommended for patients with severe liver disease.
