Spironolactone

Treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, or nephrotic syndrome.

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), often in combination with other medications.

Treatment of acne vulgaris (severe acne), particularly in women.

Treatment of hirsutism (excess hair growth) in women with hormonal imbalances.

Aldactone 50mg Tab (Spironolactone) is a potassium-sparing diuretic and aldosterone antagonist. It works by blocking the effects of aldosterone, a hormone that causes the body to retain sodium and water and excrete potassium. By blocking aldosterone, spironolactone increases the excretion of sodium and water, reducing fluid retention and blood pressure. It also helps to conserve potassium.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage varies depending on the condition being treated and the patient's individual response. Always follow your doctor's prescription instructions.

It is usually taken orally, once or twice daily.

Do not crush or chew extended-release tablets; swallow them whole.

Do not abruptly stop taking spironolactone without consulting your doctor.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol may increase the risk of side effects, particularly dizziness and drowsiness. Limit alcohol intake while taking spironolactone.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Spironolactone can cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Spironolactone should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor.



Children

Use in children is limited and should only be considered under strict medical supervision.



Kidney

Caution is advised in patients with kidney disease. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.



Liver

Caution is advised in patients with liver disease. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.
