Cefprozil

Is a semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic.

Treatment of mild to moderate infections of the ears (otitis media), sinuses (sinusitis), throat (pharyngitis), and tonsils (tonsillitis).

Treatment of skin and skin structure infections.

Zemetril 500mg Tab (Cefprozil) inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bacterial cell lysis and death. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and some Gram-negative bacteria.

Store at controlled room temperature 20°C-25°C (68°F-77°F) [See USP]. Protect from moisture.

Dosage and frequency depend on the infection being treated and the patient's age and weight. Always follow your doctor's instructions.

Cefprozil is typically administered orally (by mouth).

It may be taken with or without food, but consistency is important for optimal absorption.

Less common but serious side effects can include allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing), pseudomembranous colitis (severe diarrhea), and changes in liver function tests.

Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, and dizziness.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of certain side effects. Consult your doctor.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Cefprozil can cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should only be considered if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor.



Children

Dosage is adjusted based on weight and age. Follow your doctor's instructions.



Kidney

Renal impairment may necessitate dosage adjustment. Your doctor will assess your kidney function.



Liver

Hepatic impairment may necessitate dosage adjustment. Your doctor will assess your liver function.
