Glimepiride

A sulfonylurea drug that stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin.

Metformin

A biguanide that improves insulin sensitivity and reduces glucose production by the liver.

Pioglitazone

A thiazolidinedione (tzd) that improves insulin sensitivity by acting on cells' insulin receptors.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone are insufficient to control blood sugar levels.

Used in patients who require a combination of three medications to effectively manage their blood sugar.

This combination drug works through a synergistic effect. Glimepiride increases insulin release, metformin enhances insulin sensitivity and reduces hepatic glucose production, and pioglitazone improves peripheral insulin sensitivity. This three-pronged approach helps to lower blood glucose levels more effectively than any single drug alone.

Store at room temperature, below 30°C (86°F), in a dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage is determined by a physician based on individual needs and response to treatment.

Always follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not alter your dosage without consulting them.

Typically taken once daily with a meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Symptoms may include sweating, dizziness, confusion, and rapid heartbeat.

Gastrointestinal issues: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain (particularly with metformin).

Liver problems (rare, but pioglitazone can cause liver damage in some cases).

Weight gain (particularly with pioglitazone).

Fluid retention and edema (with pioglitazone).

Allergic reactions: Skin rash, itching, hives.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can increase the risk of hypoglycemia and should be consumed in moderation or avoided entirely.



Driving or Operating Machinery

Hypoglycemia can impair alertness and reaction time. Avoid driving or operating machinery if experiencing hypoglycemia.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Consult your doctor immediately. This medication is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.



Children

Not indicated for use in children.



Kidney

Dose adjustment may be required for patients with kidney problems. Metformin is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney disease.



Liver

Careful monitoring of liver function is necessary, especially with pioglitazone. This medication should be used cautiously in patients with liver disease.
