Is a medication that contains the active ingredient urokinase, a naturally occurring enzyme found in human urine.
Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients with acute thromboembolic events.
Dissolving blood clots in the arteries, particularly in cases of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack).
Treatment of certain types of stroke, such as ischemic stroke, caused by a blood clot.
Clearing blocked catheters and other medical devices.
Urolyte Injection (Urokinase) is a fibrinolytic enzyme, meaning it dissolves blood clots by breaking down fibrin, a protein that helps form clots. It works by converting plasminogen, an inactive protein in the blood, into plasmin, an active enzyme that dissolves fibrin.
Urokinase should be stored in a refrigerator at a controlled temperature between 2°C and 8°C (36°F and 46°F). It should be protected from light and moisture. Do not freeze.
The dosage of urokinase varies depending on the condition being treated and the individual patient's needs.
It is usually administered intravenously (IV) by a healthcare professional.
The duration of treatment also depends on the specific condition and the patient's response to therapy.
It is important to follow your doctor's instructions carefully regarding the dosage and frequency of administration.
Bleeding: Urokinase can increase the risk of bleeding, especially in patients with bleeding disorders or those taking blood thinners.

Hypotension (low blood pressure): Urokinase can lower blood pressure in some individuals.
Nausea and vomiting: These side effects are less common but may occur.
It is generally advisable to avoid alcohol while taking urokinase, as alcohol can increase the risk of bleeding.
Urokinase may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some patients. It is recommended to avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
The safety of urokinase during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not fully established. It should only be used if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Consult with your doctor before taking urokinase if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Urokinase is not typically used in children. The safety and effectiveness in children have not been established.
