Salvus Eye Drops 5ml (Loteprednol Etabonate) works by reducing inflammation in the eye. It does this by suppressing the release of chemicals that cause inflammation, such as histamine and prostaglandins.
Store loteprednol etabonate eye drops at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not freeze. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
The dosage of loteprednol etabonate will vary depending on the condition being treated and the individual patient. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage and frequency of administration.
Generally, loteprednol etabonate is instilled into the affected eye(s) one to four times daily.
Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and do not exceed the prescribed dosage.
Common side effects of loteprednol etabonate include:
Burning or stinging in the eye
Eye irritation
Headache
Blurred vision
Increased intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye)
Cataracts
Glaucoma
Thinning of the cornea
Delayed wound healing.
