Mesna

Mesna is the generic name for the drug. It is available under various brand names, such as Mesnex, Mesnagen, and others.Mesna is a medication that is used to protect the bladder from damage caused by certain chemotherapy drugs, such as ifosfamide and cyclophosphamide.

Mesna is used to prevent hemorrhagic cystitis (bladder inflammation), a serious side effect that can occur with certain chemotherapy drugs.

It is also used to treat patients who have already developed hemorrhagic cystitis.

Mesna is given intravenously (into a vein), usually before or after the chemotherapy drug is given.

Mistabron 600mg Inj 3ml (Mesna) works by binding to acrolein, a toxic byproduct of ifosfamide and cyclophosphamide metabolism. This binding action prevents acrolein from damaging the bladder lining.

Store Mesna at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Protect from light.

The dosage of Mesna is determined by your doctor and depends on the type of chemotherapy you are receiving and your individual health.

Mesna is usually given as an intravenous injection over a period of time, usually 15 to 30 minutes.

The dosage may be adjusted based on your response to treatment and your overall health.

The most common side effects of Mesna are mild and include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headache.

More serious side effects can occur, but are rare. These may include allergic reactions, low blood cell counts, and liver problems.

Alcohol Consumption

It is generally safe to drink alcohol while taking Mesna, but it is best to discuss this with your doctor to ensure there are no interactions with other medications you are taking.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Mesna may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or other side effects that could affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It is important to avoid these activities until you know how Mesna affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Mesna should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the developing baby. It is not known if Mesna passes into breast milk. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor before breastfeeding while taking Mesna.



Children

Mesna is safe for use in children, but the dosage may need to be adjusted.



Kidney

Mesna is primarily eliminated by the kidneys. If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust the dosage.



Liver

Mesna is metabolized by the liver. If you have liver problems, your doctor may need to adjust the dosage.
