Isoniazid

An antibiotic that specifically targets mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis (tb).

Pyridoxine

A vitamin that helps prevent some of the neurological side effects associated with isoniazid.

Isoniazid interferes with the synthesis of mycolic acids, essential components of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell wall, leading to bacterial death. Pyridoxine counteracts the peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage) that isoniazid can cause by ensuring adequate levels of vitamin B6, crucial for nerve function.

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of liver damage. Avoid alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

May cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Isoniazid and pyridoxine can cross the placental barrier and are present in breast milk.



Children

Dosage is adjusted based on weight and age. Requires careful monitoring by a physician.



Kidney

Patients with kidney impairment may require dosage adjustments. Renal function should be monitored.



Liver

Patients with liver impairment may be at increased risk of hepatotoxicity. Liver function tests are usually required before and during treatment.
