Treatment of tuberculosis (TB), specifically multidrug resistant (MDR) TB and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) TB, in combination with other anti-tuberculosis medications.
Capreotec Inj 1gm (Capreomycin) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of mycobacteria, thus preventing bacterial growth and replication.
Store at controlled room temperature 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused portion after the expiry date.
Dosage is determined by the physician based on the patient's weight, kidney function, and the severity of the infection.
It is usually administered by intramuscular injection.

Use in children should only be considered in cases of severe MDR/XDR TB and should be carefully monitored.
Capreomycin is nephrotoxic and should be used cautiously in patients with impaired kidney function. Regular monitoring of kidney function is essential.
While not primarily hepatotoxic, liver function monitoring may be warranted, particularly in patients with pre-existing liver conditions or those taking other hepatotoxic medications.
