Treatment of severe systemic fungal infections (e.g., aspergillosis, candidiasis, cryptococcosis, histoplasmosis)

Ampholip 10mg Inj (Amphotericin B) binds to ergosterol, a component of fungal cell membranes, creating pores that lead to leakage of intracellular contents and ultimately fungal cell death. It's fungicidal (kills fungi).

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Discard any unused portion as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Protect from freezing.

Dosage is determined by the physician based on the severity of infection, patient's weight, and renal function.

Routes of administration include intravenous infusion (most common), liposomal formulations may be administered intravenously, and rarely, topical or intrathecal routes may be used.

Alcohol Consumption

While Driving or operating Machinery

Amphotericin B may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or other side effects that could impair judgment and coordination. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is only considered if the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus or infant. Consult your doctor immediately.



Children

Dosage is adjusted for children based on weight and overall health, always under the supervision of a doctor.



Kidney

Amphotericin B can cause serious kidney damage (nephrotoxicity). Kidney function should be closely monitored during treatment.



Liver

Amphotericin B can cause liver damage (hepatotoxicity), though less commonly than kidney damage. Liver function should be monitored.
